One of our major fundraising events this year is the NZ-A-THON. An ‘a-thon’ is a way to raise both much needed funds and test your knowledge about a particular subject. However this ‘a-thon’ will be slightly different to most....
Our NZ-a-Thon will focus on our core learning inquiry of citizenship. Children will be involved in a range of activities which will require them to answer questions, locate and record information, make and create objects (usually icons), learn songs and dances, talk with you/their parents about their learning and attend learning workshops about New Zealand.
Each child will have a mock New Zealand passport to collect stamps in when they complete an activity. Children will have a target number of stamps to collect.
The NZ-a-thon questions and activities will be on here

  • o The NZ-a-thon is over 3 weeks – please take time to go over the questions/research tasks and activities with
your children regularly (to keep up momentum and motivation).

How To Use The Passport
Children record their answers in their passports (unless otherwise stated). They need to record the question number or title of the activity/research completed.
Stamps are given:
Questions – 1 per answer.
Activities – 5 per completed activity (up to your standard). This includes the orienteering, the library and Where is George activities.
Research – 5 per completed research (up to your standard).
The aim is for all children to collect at least 50 stamps – but the expectation is for them to get a lot more than this.
You might like to set goals or points for children to encourage them to succeed in the NZ-a-thon.
